Day 4 (August 16th, 2016)

Finally, a morning where we do not have to pack up and leave! We started the day with a swim (the empty side is still as it was!). Six ducks came to see us. There was even one that kept coming back at less than a couple of feet from my nose. I could have touch it but as soon as I was moving, it would go away. I think that they are used to be fed! It’s a good day to make crepes, we have the time! The blueberries bought yesterday are very small and very tasty. We even have the visit of a dow and her fawn, she may have smelt the crepes! After breakfast, we went to Silver Islet where a silver mine was in operation in the 1860s. Apparently in about 20 years of operation they would have had revenues of over $3 million at the time. The legend Ojibwa of the sleeping giant, Nanabosho, comes from this vein of silver. We walked on the jetty and on the pier, a very quiet little village with no services and tourist attraction other than the wonderful sceneries of Lake Superior. Before coming back to the camping, did some hiking for 1 hour. Back at the campground, we when for a swim as the campsite on the lake was still empty after our swim, the occupants arrived with a big ‘toaster’ trailer and 2 poodles! We had an early dinner before the rain, but now the sun is back. Good time for a walk before the mosquitoes show up!
