Day 10 (August 22, 2016) Monday, Saskatoon

This is the day for a tour of the campus! There is quite a bit of construction on the West side of campus but the rest has stayed pretty much the same. My former colleagues at CCHSA have moved to a new building. They have a wind in the new Health Sciences Building, light years from the old patients’ rooms in which we had our offices (most of them shares!): individual offices for the staff and shared nice offices for the students, great labs, exam rooms for patients and study participants, meeting rooms and a fully equipped videoconference room. Wow! The facilities are incredible but it is fantastic to see my former colleagues. I almost want to be back! A big thanks you to Louise Hagel who took us around and to Kendra Ulmer who finished the tour with us. Wonderful memories of the work done there and of the amazing team I worked with. After a lunch downtown, we go to the College of engineering. This have not changed there! The visit is not planned but we meet some of the faculties as we walk in the hallways.
My friend, Gabrielle, comes get me on campus for a shopping walk downtown. Unfortunately, she can only drop me off as she has to take care of an emergency, we will meet later at Earl’s for dinner. I do my browsing alone and discover new shops but things have not changed much since our last visit 3 years ago. I finally get to Earl’s early and am on my second margarita (it is the Monday special!) when Claude, Garbrielle, Renée and our friends Denise and Daniel arrive. Hubert and the boys join us later for dinner. Another very nice evening with friends.
