Day 22, 23 and 24 (September 3 -5, 2016) William M. Tugman Provincial Park, Oregon

This campground is wonderful. We were lucky as there was a cancellation and we could have a site during this busy weekend. The place is filled and many have their 4 wheelers of dirt bikes to go play in the sand dunes. The area as many very large ones along the coast. We were welcomed by a slug that was a bit envious of the Alto’s shell! We also had a fellow camper who had passed us on the freeway and was very happy to see the roof deployed! There are many tree and a nice lake, a very beautiful place.

I will not write too much but will let the pictures talk for themselves. We drove along the coast and stopped at few places. As magnificent as always. We even saw seals swimming and whales (rare for the time of year). You will be able to see a ‘swish’. We had lunch in Newport by the pier, many fishing boats and a wave breaker covered with seals. We hear them talking to each others!

As everywhere, people want to be as close as possible to water. Unfortunately, those guys will lose their property few years, two, five, ten years? It is a ticking bomb: the next earthquake or El Nino and it will be down the cliff… They also do complete cuts in the area. They replant and as it grows fast, the landscape will not stay like that long.

Sunday we drove south and ended up at the Shore Acres State Park. I wanted to go walk on a long beach but we found a very narrow beach and a wonderful garden. It was the property of a lumber lord but now there is only a small original house and constructions that have been built recently. They have redone the gardens and have a very impressive rose garden. A rare jewel!
